Former Stryker Spine Chief to Lead Orthobond’s Board of Directors

Eric Major currently is executive board chairman at Highridge Medical.

Orthobond Corporation has appointed K2M founder and former Stryker executive Eric Major as its board chairman.

“We are pleased to be expanding Orthobond’s Board of Directors with the appointment of Eric, whose vast experience in the medical device space and in driving strategic growth will be an instrumental part of Orthobond’s future,” Orthobond CEO David Nichols said. “The timing of Eric’s appointment is ideal given our FDA clearance of the first anti-bacterial non-drug eluting solution.”

Major has more than 30 years of industry experience with a distinguished career as an entrepreneur, CEO, and chairman. He is currently executive board chairman at Highridge Medical. His background spans startup and early-stage funding, venture capital, private equity, and initial public offerings. His expertise extends to managing public companies, steering both public and private board governance, overseeing global operations, and formulating strategies for M&A and business integration. In his previous role as Stryker Spine president, Major successfully led its merger with K2M. Besides founding of K2M, he also was chairman, president, and CEO, successfully leading the company from a startup to a publicly traded global franchise.

“Eric’s career, spanning over three decades in the industry, is a testament to his extensive expertise and visionary leadership,” said Frank Cammisa, M.D., chief Emeritus of HSS Spine at Hospital for Special Surgery, chief medical officer and board member at Orthobond. “His arrival marks a new chapter of innovation and growth for our company and we are thrilled to welcome such an experienced leader to help lead us toward a brighter future for Orthobond.”

“Orthobond’s antibacterial technology is a true breakthrough for patient care in the medical device space and the recent FDA clearance allows for a new and exciting chapter for the company,” Major stated. “I am thrilled to be joining Orthobond at such a pivotal time. I look forward to working with the Board of Directors and operating team as we enter the commercial phase for this revolutionary technology.”
